Communicating With Impact

Professional Development Workshops for Reaching New Levels of Communication & Involvement

Puget Sound Educational Service District is pleased to host a Communicating with Impact session for area districts at negotiated consortium pricing. Join us at one of the following sessions:

September 25, 2008 at Puget Sound ESD, Renton

  • 8:00 - 9:30 AM
  • 10:00 - 11:30 AM
  • 1:00 - 2:30 PM
  • 3:00 - 4:30 PM

Fee: $50 per person (regularly $250).

Communicating with Impact is an Instructor-led workshop for reaching new levels of parent/community involvement. After completing the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the essential elements of an effective voice or e-mail message and develop powerful, targeted message content
  • Use effective language, style, and tone to maintain audience attention
  • Avoid communication pitfalls
  • Use the Best Practices Rubric to plan, practice, and refine powerful messages for use with automated notification systems like SchoolMessenger

Expected Outcomes:

✔ Parent involvement increases (with impact on academic achievement)

Featured Trainer: Dr. Gary Stebbins

Dr. Stebbins received his doctorate from the Fielding Institute where his research was focused on school leadership and the important skills needed by building principals. He also holds two master's degrees including one from San Jose State University in School Administration. Dr. Stebbins has more than 35 years of experience in education including service as a principal and teacher.
