Leading During Times of Conflict: What Every School Administrator Needs to Know January 24, February 7, & March 13, 2012; 9:00 - 3:30 How do you relate to conflict? Response to Intervention: Next Steps for Advanced Implementers: Review - Reevaluate - Revitalize April 24 & 25, 2012; 8:30 - 3:30 This two-day training will review essential components of a school-wide approach to RTI with emphasis on evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the instructional supports across levels/tiers. Additional emphasis will be placed on developing a problem-solving approach at the school, grade/group, and individual student levels. Additional content will include keys to effective teaming, how to expand RTI, getting more people on board and applying RTI principles to areas such as mathematics and science. Introductory Level Training for Paras Working with Students with Special Health Care Needs, Competencies 12 & 14 March 27 & 29, 2012; 4:30-7:45 Designed for paraeducator and para/teacher teams, this workshop will focus on working with children with special health care needs in school settings. December 6, 2011; 9:00 - 11:00 This webinar will provide an overview of sexting (creating, sending or sharing of user-generated sexual or nude images) and realistic approaches to address this growing practice among our students. Laws on school search authority will be addressed, including the unique search challenges presented by individual student electronic devices such as smart phones and laptops for administrators and staff. Legal and practical limits of authority and supervision and best practices and realistic strategies will be highlighted, including policies, education, and other means to prevent as well as investigate. December 8, 2011; 9:00 - 11:00 This webinar will provide an overview of the laws and best Human Resources practices governing employment discrimination, which can occur in the hiring process through the termination of employment. It will also include topics of workplace harassment, discrimination and retaliation. January 25, 2012; 9:00 - 11:00 This webinar will provide school staff tips and tools for identifying and effectively addressing harassment, intimidation, or bullying of students specifically focusing on elementary students. Information regarding the new required procedures will be addressed from a classroom, playground, lunch room, and other common area perspective. Participants will also receive effective and age appropriate strategies for interventions with students, strategies for dealing with the parents of the bully and the bullied student, and bystanders. Skills for appropriate documentation as well as conducting an effective and timely interview will be shared. Age and developmentally appropriate disciplinary strategies will be highlighted.

February 15, 2012; 9:00 - 11:00 Being a middle school student presents many personal challenges, let alone the ability to understand acceptable social interaction. By high school, some of these coping skills have been learned, along with the ability to take bullying to the next level. This webinar will provide strategies for school staff to effectively identify, intervene, diffuse, document, and report incidents of harassment, intimidation, or bullying. The program will also identify ways that school staff can respond to disruptive classroom behaviors designed to intentionally de-rail the attention of teachers. You will learn the role of all school staff in the maintenance of a positive school climate and how to deal effectively with students who are concerned with staff who bully students. The program will discuss how to deal with the bully, the victim, the bystander and parents and when to involve law enforcement.
